Sistinon^® 60 Tablets

The product is in tablet form and is presented in a pack of 60 tablets. One tablet contains 250 mg D-mannose, 152 mg cranberry extract (of which 76 mg is proanthocyanidins), 60 mg quercetin and 12 mg vitamin C.

The daily portion is 1 or 2 tablets a day, taken after food. Do not exceed the recommended daily portion. A pack of 60 tablets corresponds to 60 days when 1 tablet a day is taken and to 30 days when 2 tablets a day are taken.

What is Sistinon?

Sistinon® is a food supplement containing D-mannose, cranberry extract, quercetin and vitamin C. The product is in tablet form. The approval holder and the company placing the product on the market is Aymed İlaç Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. The product is manufactured on behalf of Aymed İlaç at authorised facilities approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye. Raw materials are selected from branded ingredients inspected by international authorities; before production, the microbiology and raw material content assay analyses submitted by the suppliers are reviewed and approved by Aymed İlaç. The manufacture and placing on the market of food supplements are subject to approval by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye; the approval number for the product is given on the packaging.

The ingredients present in the composition are described below.

• D-mannose: a simple sugar (monosaccharide) that is also found in fruits. One tablet contains 250 mg.
• Cranberry extract: an extract obtained from the fruit of the plant Vaccinium macrocarpon, known in Turkish as turna yemişi. One tablet contains 152 mg, of which 76 mg is proanthocyanidins (PAC).
• Quercetin: a flavonoid found in plant foods such as onion, apple and caper. One tablet contains 60 mg.
• Vitamin C: one tablet contains 12 mg. This amount corresponds to 15% of the nutrient reference value (NRV) for vitamin C.

The nutrient reference value for vitamin C is 80 mg. One tablet provides 15% of this value and 2 tablets a day provide 30%.

The tablet is not film coated. For this reason, depending on the natural structure of the ingredients, small differences in tablet colour may be seen from batch to batch and the tablet surface is more open to abrasion. This does not affect the quality of the product.

Health Claims Permitted for Vitamin C

In food supplements a health claim may be written only for vitamins and minerals, only where the daily portion provides at least 15% of the nutrient reference value for that nutrient, and only by keeping to the wording in the list permitted by the legislation. The subject of the claim is not the product but the nutrient present in the composition of Sistinon. The nutrient in the composition of Sistinon that meets this condition is vitamin C.

The nutrient reference value for vitamin C is 80 mg. One tablet contains 12 mg of vitamin C; this amount corresponds to 15% of the reference value. When 2 tablets a day are taken, 24 mg is taken, that is 30% of the reference value. The condition for the claim is met at both daily portions.

• Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

The claims above relate to the nutrient vitamin C. There is no health claim permitted in Türkiye for D-mannose, cranberry extract and quercetin; for these ingredients the page gives only composition and amount information.

Basis of the Claims

The nutrient claims on this page are taken verbatim from the list of permitted claims in Annex 1 of the Guideline on the Use of Health Claims in Foods and Food Supplements (26.04.2023) published by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, together with the Regulation on the Use of Health Claims in Foods and Food Supplements (Official Gazette No. 32169 of 20.04.2023). For a claim to be used, the daily portion must meet the source condition defined in Annex 4 of the Guideline, that is at least fifteen per cent of the Nutrient Reference Value in Annex 5; this proportion is shown for each nutrient in the table above. The claims included in the annexes to the Guideline are used without an application for permission or a notification to the Agency, provided that the provisions of the Regulation and the Guideline are complied with.
